» Link Workers Program

Under the fourth phase of the National AIDS Control Program (NACP-IV),the Link Worker Scheme (LWS) has been designed to intensify and consolidate theprevention services, focusing on the at-risk population in the rural areas. TheScheme aims to address complex needs of HIV prevention, care and support, inrural areas through identification and training of field level workforce ofZonal Supervisors, Cluster Link Workers and other stakeholders on issues ofHIV/AIDS, gender, sexuality and Sexual Tract Infections (STI).Mobilizingdifficult-to-reach, others at risk populations, such as High Risk Groups, toaccess the public health services for STI, HIV Counselling and Testing Centres(ICTC), Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) etc.is a component of the Scheme. Theirfollow up back to communities is also envisaged. It also seeks to address theissues of stigma and discrimination in rural areas of India. PDAMSMS isimplementing the project in Paschim Medinipur district with support fromWBSAPCS & NACO. since August,2016.
