Due to ignorance common consumers,especially of rural areas are often be cheated and remain deprived of enjoyingthe adequate services, commensurate with the price paid. And  with that point of view to percolate themovement to the grass root level, several activities, such as Seminar,Workshop, Erection of Stalls, distribution of Leaflets & Fliers,Celebration of National Consumer Day, International Consumer Rights Dayare  taken up on regular basis tocreate mass awareness on the rights& duties of a citizen as a consumer. In addition several programs are being taken uplike campaign against adulteration, demanding of excess price, deficientservice in different public & Private Service providers with assistance ofGovt &

Non-Govt.organizations. Togenerate awareness amongst the rural populace a Pilot Project “CapacityBuilding on Electricity Reforms in Bangladesh, India & Nepal” is beingintroduced with support from CUTS International; Kolkata.

PDAMSMS has been selected to run “ConsumerAssistant Cell (CONASC) for Electricity Consumer” in six sub-divisions(Electricals) of Purulia district to improve and supplement the servicedelivery with focus on improving the Grievance Redressal System  with support from CUTS, International andWBSEDCL Free legal assistance are being provided by the legal aid cell soformed consisting of eminent lawyers.
